After Mesut Ozil made a huge life announcement on social media, many of his former Arsenal colleagues showed their support to the former midfield wizard

Former Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil and his wife Amine have announced they have welcomed a third daughter into the world. Ozil, 37, retired from football in the summer of 2023.

The ex-Real Madrid midfielder has since poured everything into honing his physique in the gym, transforming his slight midfield frame into a stocky body-builder. When he made his retirement announcement, he also stated he was looking forward to spending more time with his other half and their two daughters Eda and Ela.

He will now be looking after a third little girl, Elisa, who was born on April 2. When he and Amine announced their news, his former Arsenal team-mates Kieran Gibbs and Lukas Podolski offered their kind words.

The World Cup winner won four FA Cups during his time in north London. He also contributed 44 goals and 77 assists in 254 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal.

While Arsenal were pushing for the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta in the 2023-24 campaign, Ozil said to Marca: "The first years were very good. We played in the Champions League, we had a great team with great players and an incredible coach like Arsene Wenger.

"After he left the club, many things changed for me. But I have no interest in adding fuel to the fire again. Now I am relaxed and I wish the best to the Arsenal fans, who have always been very supportive of me. I would be happy for them if they could celebrate the Premier League title. They deserve it!"

He left Arsenal for Fenerbahce in January 2021, where he spent 18 months before moving to Istanbul Baseksehir in the summer of 2022. They proved to be his final club, as he announced his retirement in March 2023, eight months after arriving.
