Arsenal legend Nigel Winterburn has praised the club's summer transfer window activity. Mikel Arteta has splashed out a whopping £263million on eight new signings, as the Gunners pull out all the stops in their quest to secure another Premier League title after three consecutive second-place finishes and a 28-year wait.
Arteta's most costly acquisition of the summer was Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace, who joined the club for a hefty £67.5million. The Spanish manager also finally secured the much-needed striker Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting for £63.7m.
The Gunners have also welcomed Martin Zubimendi, Noni Madueke, Piero Hincapie, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard and Kepa Arrizabalaga, significantly strengthening their squad depth.
Speaking to Daily Star Sport on behalf of Casino.org, which ranks the best online casinos, former left-back Winterburn, 61, claimed that Arsenal did everything necessary in the transfer window. The three-time league title winner with Arsenal said: "Well, they've done what they needed to do, there's no doubt about that.
"First thing everyone was crying for was a centre forward. They've bought one that was in form. Until Gyokeres fits completely into the team, starts scoring a lot of goals, people are not stupid, they'll still ask the questions.
"But it's the same with [Florian] Wirtz at Liverpool, a lot of money, but he hasn't fitted in yet completely, and Liverpool have won three games.
"I don't see anywhere else where Arsenal would have strengthened their game. The two positions that most people were talking about, centre forward, left side forward - they've done that with Gyokeres and Eze. Then they've also added Martin Zubimendi who looks very good, and then they've re-strengthened in other areas."
Winterburn, a former Gunner who clinched the First Division title in 1989 and 1991, as well as the Premier League in 1998, believes Arsenal's new signings have significantly bolstered the squad's depth.

He expressed his reinforced pre-season conviction that the Gunners are poised to secure their first title in over two decades. Winterburn commented: "I mean, you could almost look now if everyone's fit, they've got two teams that you could possibly say wouldn't be too much weaker than their starting team.
"Everything is in place. Hopefully the injuries stay away because we've already got a few, but then there's a lot of clubs in the Premier League that are in the same position already, which is quite incredible, really.
"But if it stays away, there's no doubt in my mind we should be very, very close. I haven't changed my opinion since the start of the season to the third game in. Why, why would I? But a lot of people have."
