Mikel Arteta gives two reasons why he thinks Arsenal can finally win Premier League title

Arsenal head into the clash against Wolves looking to secure a Premier League title advantage with Mikel Arteta issuing a clear statement

Mikel Arteta has made an emphatic Premier League title vow as the race against Manchester City heats up. The Gunners have the chance to extend the gap at the top to seven points on Wednesday evening when they face Wolves at Molineux.

A victory would put Arsenal in a strong position over Pep Guardiola's side, but their experience during the run-in could prove to be vital. Despite that, Arteta believes his side are more than capable of claiming silverware for two clear reasons.

When asked why he thinks they will be able to get over the line, he said: "Well they give me the confidence that what we do up till now every single day, with the challenges that we have faced... not the things I imagined, but what I see every day.

"I don’t get the confidence for the things that I imagine, [I get it] for the things that I see every day in the preparation and how much the players want it. And we are where we want to be, that's for sure."

Having the entirety of his squad available for the remainder of the season will also prove to be a key factor with Arteta able to reveal some good injury news on Tuesday.

He said: "[Riccardo Calafiori] is fine. He was training with us today, he's feeling better and hopefully he's fit tomorrow.

"It was just a bit of fatigue [for Ben White vs Wigan], he did a lot in the game, and was feeling a bit of tightness. For Wolves, [Martin Odegaard] is not going to be fit, but for Sunday we are hopefully. Kai [Havertz] for the weekend, it's a possibility, so, looking forward to having him in the squad."

Though returns are expected for four players over the next few days, Mikel Merino is expected to miss several months. He underwent foot surgery earlier this month with Arteta delivering an update on his recovery.

The Arsenal boss said: "He's with us now, and he's involved in every meeting. The body demands and the mind demands some time in a different part of the world. Then he'll be with us later on in the season again."
