Mikel Arteta issues huge double Arsenal injury boost as two stars ruled out vs Wolves

Mikel Arteta has been speaking to the media ahead of Arsenal's Premier League trip to Wolves on Wednesday evening

Mikel Arteta has revealed Riccardo Calafiori and Ben White have both avoided injury in a major boost for Arsenal ahead of their Premier League trip to Wolves.

The Italian full-back was forced to withdraw from the starting XI ahead of the 4-0 FA Cup thrashing of Wigan Athletic after picking up an issue during the warm-up.

Meanwhile, Ben White appeared to feel his left hamstring but Arteta has confirmed the versatile full-back should be okay to feature in the Black Country.

Arteta said: "[Calafiori] is fine. He was training with us today, he's feeling better and hopefully he's fit tomorrow.

"It was just a bit of fatigue [for White], he did a lot in the game, and was feeling a bit of tightness."

Meanwhile, the Spaniard has also ruled captain Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz out of the contest, though both are in contention to feature against Tottenham.

Arteta continued: "For Wolves, [Odegaard] is not going to be fit, but for Sunday we are hopeful. Kai for the weekend is a possibility."

Odegaard missed the triumph over Wigan with a knee issue he picked trying to keep out Brentford's equaliser in the 1-1 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Norwegian was later spotted hobbling from the mixed zone as he made his way back to the team bus in west London.

He later confirmed during his programme notes that the injury wasn't as bad as he initially feared.

Havertz is currently nursing a muscle issue but he is pushing hard to be involved at Spurs on Sunday.

Youngster Max Dowman is close to returning to action but this match is likely to come too soon for him while Mikel Merino recently underwent successfully surgery on his foot.

The Spaniard is not expected to be fit until the closing stages of the season, though he's hopeful of being back in time to represent Spain at the World Cup.
