Mikel Arteta hailed his team's maturity after Arsenal registered a 1-0 win away to Fulham on Saturday.
The Gunners' victory at Craven Cottage moved them four points clear of Liverpool, and opened up a three-point gap at the top of the table, ahead of second-placed Manchester City.
Arsenal was handed an extremely tricky run of fixtures to start the season, and the fact that Arteta's team is at the top of the table after navigating games against Liverpool, City, Newcastle and Manchester United is ominous for the chasing pack
Praising the character of his side, Arteta told BBC Radio 5 Live: "It is a really tough place to come, a really organised team and a really good manager who knows how to set up.When the context is 0-0 and the game gets longer and longer it becomes more difficult, but we showed a lot of maturity."
Leandro Trossard scored the winning goal for Arsenal in the second half, turning the ball home from close range after Gabriel had flicked Bukayo Saka's corner on.
"We kept knocking on the door in various ways and in the end we find a way with the set-piece to do it but we deserved it in the end," Arteta added of the goal, before praising his defense.
"I don't think we conceded a shot on target, which tells you again how well we were organised.
"We had a spell in the first 10-15 minutes where we had a few giveaways and transitions and momentum to them without them really doing much. We have to keep going now.
"We have another big one on Tuesday [at home to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League], they are coming thick and fast."
Arsenal has conceded just three goals in eight Premier League games since the start of the season, putting the club on course to break Chelsea's incredible record for the least amount of goals conceded in a Premier League season.
Chelsea shipped just 15 goals on its way to winning the title in 2004-05, and there is still a long way in the season to go before the Gunners can even think about taking that remarkable record away from their London rivals.
Yet if they continue to concede goals at the rate they currently are doing (0.375 per game), they will end the league campaign having conceded just 14 goals.
