Arsenal have been tipped to win the Premier League this season but Mikel Arteta's side have been told one thing they need to do to get their hands on the trophy
Joleon Lescott says that Arsenal must earn 90 points this season to secure the Premier League title. The Gunners are leading the table after 10 matches.
For the past three years, Mikel Arteta's side have been runners-up to either Liverpool or Manchester City. However, this season they appear to be formidable contenders.
The signing of striker Viktor Gyokeres, coupled with an enhanced midfield and additional attacking support, has allowed the Gunners to establish a six-point lead over City and a seven-point advantage over Liverpool.
Last year, while competing with the Reds, they only managed to accumulate 74 points. The previous year, they fell short at 89 and 84 wasn't sufficient in the campaign before that. Ex-City star and two-time Premier League champion Lescott is adamant that if Arsenal are to triumph this year, they must reach the 90-point threshold.
"It is their title to lose because they are in pole position. Arsenal just are not conceding chances," said Lescott, speaking on In The Mixer, brought to you by Sky Bet.

Arsenal have launched their new third kit for the 2025/26 season.
"Even if they drop points, if they keep doing what they have been doing then they win the league. It's the position they're in, the confidence that they have and the way that they're playing.

"It is still early and they look to be in control. However, the new norm is 90 points or higher. Manchester City and Liverpool have set a new normal level.
"It's like you have to go on a 10-game winning streak at some point now. Not even 10 games unbeaten. You have to win 10 games in a row, which is mad. That is only a third of the points you need to win the league too."
Lescott admits that before the campaign kicked off, he believed reigning champions Liverpool would finish top once more under Arne Slot. While he suggests their strategy to recruit and strengthen hasn't materialised as hoped, Lescott reckons Mohamed Salah can still assist the Reds in mounting a title challenge against Arsenal.
"I just thought Liverpool were going to continue their momentum. I thought the confidence was going to be there and they were adding quality and that's why they were my favourites," added Lescott.
"They were building a squad to win every competition. It hasn't been like that. The form of some of the players has had an impact, like Florian Wirtz.
"But Salah has done what he's done. So the job is to get the ball to Salah. That's the job of the players and that's the plan. We know Salah can do it. He has done it before."
