The Tottenham teenager had a setback on loan at Rangers but there was good news on Friday for the Spurs academy product

Rangers boss Danny Rohl has confirmed that Tottenham youngster Mikey Moore is on the verge of returning to action for the Glasgow giants.

Moore was starting to find his feet for Rangers and netted his first goal for the Scottish Premiership side against Dundee early last month. However, the 18-yearold then picked up a muscle injury that Rohl had previously said "could be 25 days [out], it could be 40 days. You never know."

However, after Moore had been forced to miss four matches, the German had more positive news on Friday at his press conference ahead of Rangers' trip to Kilmarnock on Saturday afternoon.

"Mikey trained with us today and if there's no reaction he will be back tomorrow in the squad. I think it's good news," said the manager.

After a tough start for Moore and Rangers during Russell Martin's brief and difficult era, the Spurs youngster had begun to bloom under Rohl, playing in more of a free role and able to come in off the flank. Before the injury struck during his international duty with England U19s, Moore had played 17 times for Rangers this season, scoring that one goal and providing two assists.

He will now be looking to push on in his first senior loan move and help the Scottish side climb up the table and improve their Europa League exploits.

Moore had previously quashed reports of a return to Spurs following the difficult spell under Martin.

"It was a difficult start for me and I don’t think I showed anywhere near what I know I can do," he said last month. "Mentally it’s been unbelievable for me because it’s a massive club and I think it’s strengthened me up a lot because it’s probably the toughest time I’ve been through. So now I’m happy to be coming out of it, but now I need to keep on going and performing.

On speculation that he was aiming for a return to north London, the teenager said: "I was never ready to go back. I always knew that at some point it would change and I’ve changed it for myself a little bit in the last few weeks, but I need to keep building and playing even better than I am.

"I’m picking up goals and assists. I’m feeling a lot more confident, I’m getting used to the league, used to my teammates and the manager’s helped me a lot as well, he’s come in and he’s gave me confidence and belief in myself which has been good from him, so I’m excited to keep going.

"There’s a lot of pressure on a young boy coming from the Premier League, but as long as I’m improving and I’m helping Rangers go win games and picking up goals and helping the team, that’s all that matters for now."

Moore has enjoyed that freer role under former Sheffield Wednesday boss Rohl and the chance to create.

"I think it helps me being in that role. I always want to be involved in the game as much as possible and I like to get in the pockets," said the youngster. "I can play wide but I think I’ve had a bit of a mix of both, so I’m enjoying the role I’ve been given."
