Hello and welcome to the 2025 edition of the annual Liverpool.com awards! Every year, we hand out (virtual) prizes recognizing some of our highlights of the last 365 days, and this year is no different.

While there have been highs and lows, Liverpool will look back on 2025 as the year in which it won the Premier League title at the first time of asking under Arne Slot. For that reason, it will go down in the history books, but also for the sad loss of Diogo Jota too.

We've looked back across the last 12 months of action to pick out the key bits. Let us know in the comments if you agree with our picks...

Biggest moment

At the end of his first season at the helm, Arne Slot delivered a defining moment: a Premier League title win. No matter what else he achieves at Anfield, it will be written into the history books forever.

Liverpool fans celebrated that day at Anfield like never before. Those who had tickets will have savored every moment and drank in a unique occasion. Lots of those who didn't gather outside the stadium anyway.

At the other end of the spectrum, the tragic loss of Diogo Jota was a monumental moment too. Words cannot describe how tough a period that was for the club, and he of course will not be forgotten.

Best goal

Sticking with the day that the Premier League title was secured by Liverpool, the best goal has to be Alexis Mac Allister's wondergoal at Anfield against Spurs. Putting the Reds ahead on the day, it was a brilliant strike into the back of Guglielmo Vicario's net.

Mac Allister, from the edge of the box, let fly and left the goalkeeper with no chance. Setting Liverpool up for a comfortable 5-1 victory, it was at that moment that the incredible celebrations properly began on a historic afternoon.

Best newcomer

Of the summer signings, only Hugo Ekitike has come close to showcasing his full potential. Florian Wirtz has shown it in parts, but nothing sustained; Alexander Isak has largely flattered to deceive.

Ekitike has been in the goals and looked the part, but things are still coming together around him. In time, the Frenchman should get even better, but he has already impressed.

Perhaps this question will have a different answer by the end of the season. Wirtz and Isak, in particular, are too good not to come good at some point. For now, though, Ekitike is out there on his own.

Best post-match interview

Perhaps the word 'best' should be replaced with 'most explosive,' but Mohamed Salah's chat with reporters at Elland Road stands out, largely for the wrong reasons. It was just so remarkable to witness.

Curtis Jones' honest assessment that Liverpool was "in the s---" after losing 4-1 to PSV was another memorable one. That, at least, seemed to have a positive effect, with the rot having stopped since then in terms of results.

MVP

Given it has been a calendar year of two halves, this is pretty tricky. Salah would have been the answer for a long time, but his second half of the 12 months has not been anywhere near the same level.

Virgil van Dijk can stake a claim and Alisson Becker, were he not injured so often, would very much be in the conversation. Ryan Gravenberch tailed off for a period, but he has to be among the candidates too.

In time, Wirtz, Isak and maybe even Ekitike will be up there, hopefully. For now, however, no one really stands out above the rest. That probably tells its own story of the required improvement as 2026 begins.
