Mohamed Salah could now be denied last personal Liverpool wish

Mohamed Salah could now be denied his final wish as a Liverpool player, with the winger having potentially already played his final game for the club.

Salah’s future at Anfield is of course in serious doubt following his outburst at the weekend, in which he claimed that someone at the club wanted him out while also revealing his relationship with Arne Slot had broken down after being named on the bench for three games in a row.

The 33-year-old also suggested that he could play his final game for Liverpool at the weekend, revealing he had told his family to attend Saturday’s Premier League fixture at home to Brighton.

"This club, I always support it. My kids will always support it. I love the club so much I will always do,” Salah said. “I called my mum yesterday - you guys didn't know if I would start or not, but I knew.

"Yesterday I said to them, come to the Brighton game. I don't know if I am going to play or not but I am going to enjoy it. In my head, I'm going to enjoy that game because I don't know what is going to happen now.

"I will be in Anfield to say goodbye to the fans and go the Africa cup. I don't know what is going to happen when I am there."

Salah is set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations following Saturday’s game, and with the tournament running until January 18, it is possible that he could secure a move away from Liverpool before he returns from the tournament in Morocco.

Whether he will play against Brighton though looks to be in major doubt now.

Although he trained as usual alongside the rest of his teammates at the AXA Training Centre on Monday, Salah has been left out of the traveling squad to take on Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday.

The decision is said to have been taken by the club with the full support of Slot, with a brief period away from selection regarded as the best option for the club, the squad and Salah himself at the moment.

How long he will be left out of the squad for is unclear though. Salah has not been disciplined by the club, with the decision to leave him out of the squad heading to Milan solely a selection issue.

It puts his inclusion for Saturday’s game against Brighton under major doubt, with the possibility that he will be left out of the squad again completely.

If that is to be the case, then Salah may have already played his final game for the club, with his most recent appearance coming off the bench at half-time against Sunderland last week.

Liverpool.com says: It’s going to be a huge decision for Slot and the club whether Salah is included against Brighton. They may well be trying to cool the situation a bit, but if he is selected, then it could be a major distraction for the rest of the players.

If he’s left out again, then it could be a sad ending for one of the club’s greatest players.
