Mohamed Salah has received a proposition from Piers Morgan that could potentially unsettle the Liverpool hierarchy.
The Egyptian star expressed feeling as though he'd been "thrown under a bus" and disclosed he has no rapport with head coach Arne Slot after being benched yet again during Saturday's match against Leeds. In the wake of his explosive comments, Liverpool withdrew him from the squad for Tuesday's Champions League face-off with Inter Milan.
There's a real possibility that Salah may have played his last game for the Reds, with Saudi Pro League clubs monitoring the situation closely. With the relationship between the club and player teetering on the edge, broadcaster Morgan has extended an offer to Salah.
Morgan's infamous interview with Cristiano Ronaldo was a turning point in the Portuguese star's second spell at Manchester United.
Reacting to Salah's scathing remarks, Morgan posted on X: "Wow... maybe time for an interview @MoSalah?"
In 2022, Ronaldo gave a shocking interview to Morgan in which he criticised the Glazers' ownership, lambasted the club's facilities, and took a swipe at then-manager Erik ten Hag. United swiftly terminated his contract, paving the way for his transfer to Al-Nassr.
Ronaldo's revelations sparked a mixed response among fans. Some United supporters applauded his honesty, arguing that the club needed to face some harsh truths.
However, some have criticized what they see as a petulant outburst from a player whose much-anticipated return has fallen short of expectations. Liverpool, and particularly Slot, will be hoping that Salah doesn't take Morgan up on his offer.
At present, a resolution seems unlikely, but it's not completely off the table. Yet, any further public displays of discontent from the 33-year-old, especially directed at someone as prominent as Morgan, could signal the end of his stint at Anfield.
The Reds also need to consider the potential impact on the rest of the squad. Liverpool's goalkeeper Alisson Becker has admitted: "This is not a situation that makes us happy, first and foremost because on a personal level we all love Mo.
"He is a hugely important player for the team, he is a wonderful human being, he is a spectacular footballer, and has been very important for the club."
He continued: "We were a little bit caught by surprise, but we know it is a personal situation, so we are leaving it between him and the club. What we believe does not come into things.
"What we want is for him and the club to reach an agreement in the best interests of him and the club and all of the playing staff. I hope he plays again for the club. That's a personal situation between Mo and the club.
"We, as his teammates and his friends, we hope the best thing happens for him, but as Liverpool FC players, we want the best for the club as well. We want a win-win situation for everyone."
