Liverpool continued its preparations for taking on Nottingham Forest today, with Arne Slot looking to beat the East Midlands side for the first time.
Both last season and this season, Liverpool lost at Anfield against the Tricky Trees. The Reds also drew 1-1 at the City Ground in January 2025, with Diogo Jota and Kostas Tsimikas coming off the bench to make an immediate impact in the second half.
This time, Liverpool needs the points more than ever with a place in the Champions League on the line. Slot's men are playing catch-up, and with only 12 games remaining in which to collect points, the margin for error is getting smaller.

There was no sign of Jeremie Frimpong in training ahead of Nottingham Forest, with the right-back likely to miss out in that game amid his latest setback.
Alexander Isak, Giovanni Leoni, Conor Bradley, and Wataru Endo are long-term absentees, but there was no one beyond those five who wasn't involved; therefore, there were no surprises.
Liverpool has a squad that is light in a few places so any more injury troubles could become a major problem. At right-back, the hope at the weekend will be that Joe Gomez is fit enough to start.

Joe Gomez involved
Gomez trained here and has looked sharp in a couple of substitute appearances lately. If he could come into the starting XI in Nottingham, that would be a big boost.
Curtis Jones did well in that slot against Brighton but that is not his best role. If Gomez can start, then he should.
Here, the 28-year-old looked in good spirits. Though he can't be relied upon to stay fit forever, perhaps he can do so until Frimpong returns, with Ibrahima Konate's upturn in form making him less of an important option in the center.

Mohamed Salah all smiles
Having played his best game in a long while against Brighton at the weekend, Mohamed Salah was all smiles in the session. In the gym and then out on the grass, he was spotted sharing a joke with several teammates.
If Liverpool is to make the Champions League spots this season, it will need a further upturn in form across the board. If it has turned a corner recently, though, then seeing more from Salah in the next couple of months will be a massive factor.

Young players involved
Rio Ngumoha and Trey Nyoni were with the first team, as expected, but no other youngsters were pictured. Calvin Ramsay, for instance, was with the U21s group.
Neither Ngumoha nor Nyoni is likely to start any time soon, but they could play a part off the bench. Ngumoha, in particular, has been given chances this season, and if Liverpool can get into a comfortable winning position more often, those opportunities will only increase.
It seems unlikely that it will happen against Nottingham Forest away from home, especially in Vitor Pereira's first match in charge, but there are plenty more fixtures coming up beyond that.
