Mohamed Salah takes action to give Liverpool welcome boost ahead of Burnley game

4 hours ago 3

Mohamed Salah has reportedly taken matters into his own hands in order to return to Liverpool as quickly as possible.

The Reds are back in action this weekend following the international break, with Arne Slot’s side heading to Burnley on Sunday as they aim to continue their perfect start to the season, having already won all three of their Premier League games so far, including a 1-0 win over expected title challengers Arsenal.

All eyes will be on Alexander Isak as fans hope to see the new $169 million arrival make his debut for the club, but Salah will also be hoping to make a big impact.

The 33-year-old hasn’t quite hit the same levels he did last season yet, having recorded a goal and an assist from his first four club appearances so far, including the Community Shield.

Salah has been away with Egypt during the international break, and suffered frustration as his country missed the chance to secure its spot at next year’s World Cup following a goalless draw with Burkina Faso.

The Pharaohs remain on course for a spot at the tournament, with one win from their remaining two games next month enough to see them qualify directly, while Burkina Faso needs to win both of its games to stand any chance of overhauling Egypt.

Having missed out of qulification for now, Salah will be turning his focus back to matters with Liverpool, and reports claim the winger is doing all he can to get himself back on Merseyside as soon as possible.

According to WinWin, Salah is set to fly directly from Burkina Faso to the UK on a private jet, rather than returning to Cairo with his international teammates.

That will come as a welcome boost to Slot, who will have to factor in the later arrivals of Alisson Becker and Alexis Mac Allister, both of whom will be returning from South America after defeats for both Brazil and Argentina.

The Liverpool boss will need to work on Salah’s relationship with his new strikers, with the Egyptian having recently admitted he hasn’t yet found his footing with Hugo Ekitike.

"So far I didn't figure the connections out yet," Salah told the Men In Blazers podcast. "Like with Darwin or Lucho or the guys they used to play in front, or Diogo.

"I knew where to start with Diogo or Darwin. I know where to find them. I knew their game very well but with Hugo he's still new.

"Sometimes I need the ball in the field. Sometimes we need it in the space. We try to figure that out, through the training sessions or like the videos.

'The manager shows us. So I will figure it out soon because also it's going to help my game to grow as well."
