Mohammed Kudus makes exciting prediction for Xavi Simons at Tottenham

Mohammed Kudus was not the least bit surprised at the performance that Xavi Simons produced in Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Brentford.

Since he arrived through the door in the summer from RB Leipzig, Spurs fans were all waiting for that one statement performance from Xavi.

That finally arrived on Saturday against the Bees, in what was the Dutchman’s first start in five matches.

The attacking midfielder set up Richarlison’s opener before driving half the length of the pitch and finishing impressively to score his first goal in Lilywhite colours.

Mohammed Kudus says a lot more to come from Xavi Simons at Tottenham

One man who was not surprised by the Dutchman’s showing was Kudus, who revealed that the 22-year-old has been impressing in training.

The Ghanaian is confident that the former Leipzig man can offer even more to this Spurs side once he fully finds his feet at the Premier League club.

When asked about Xavi finally producing a statement performance after his early struggles, Kudus told TNT Sports: “Every player is different. Some need more time, some don’t. But Xavi has been training well, good mentality, giving his all. Even though he’s not been starting in the past games, he’s still sharp and ready for his opportunity.

“But how he played on Saturday, I’m not surprised at all, because his mentality and his focus, his energy is going to help the team a lot and definitely it’s just the beginning. I know he has a lot more to do, to show. But I’m really, really happy that he was able to get his first goal and perform like that on Saturday.

“Hopefully, we can build on that and all the new players, the better we can do to help each other settle in, the more we can connect with each other. I and him and all the other teammates will help a lot because he has a lot more to offer to us.”

Thomas Frank and Micky van de Ven are delighted for Xavi

Kudus’ sentiment is shared among the Tottenham teammates and staff, many of whom have spoken about how hard Xavi has been working in training.

Speaking after the win over Brentford, Thomas Frank described Xavi as “a 24/7 pro” who richly deserved his reward for the work that he has put in.

Micky van de Ven has praised his compatriot for training hard every single session to become a better player, even when he was going through a slump.
