Reports have now revealed what Thomas Frank told Morgan Gibbs-White following the collapse of his proposed move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Had everything gone right for Tottenham Hotspur earlier in the transfer window, the club could already have secured a new number ten to lead their attack.

Supporters will remember the week when Mohammed Kudus completed his move, followed by reports just days later that Tottenham had activated the £60 million release clause of Morgan Gibbs-White.

The excitement only grew when it was claimed that a medical was scheduled within 24 hours, with Spurs prepared to spend a staggering £115 million in the space of a few days.

What initially looked like decisive action in the market quickly unravelled, as the move collapsed in dramatic fashion and Tottenham were left empty-handed.

Morgan Gibbs-White calls Thomas Frank after Tottenham saga

The situation took a bitter turn when Nottingham Forest threatened legal action, believing Tottenham had illegally approached their star man.

Days of excitement swiftly turned to frustration as Gibbs-White decided against leaving Forest and instead committed his future to the club by signing a new long-term contract.

Football.London has now revealed what followed after the Morgan Gibbs-White deal fell through.

It is understood that after penning his new deal, Gibbs-White personally phoned Thomas Frank to apologise for the way the talks and speculation had played out. Frank, however, reassured him that there was no need for an apology.

Tottenham shift focus to Eberechi Eze after Gibbs-White blow

Gibbs-White has long been admired by Frank, with the Danish coach having previously tried to sign him during his spell in charge of Brentford.

Although disappointed to miss out, Tottenham have now turned their attention to alternative number ten targets, with Eberechi Eze emerging as the top priority.

It is understood that Spurs have already agreed personal terms with Eze, as discussions with Crystal Palace continue over the structure of a potential deal.
