Ruben Dias has agreed a new four-year deal with Manchester City to secure his long-term future with the club. The new contract includes the option of an extra year that, if fulfilled, would see him complete a decade with the Blues.

Dias signed for City in 2020 and instantly transformed a defence that had been too shaky in the year since Vincent Kompany had left the club and surrendered their Premier League title to Liverpool. The Portugal international played an integral part in the team that not only won four leagues in a row but also completed the Treble in 2023.

Despite injury struggles last year that saw him impact limited, Dias has still been seen as an important part of the club's future and contract talks have been successful this summer to tie down a player whose deal had been expiring in 2027.

"I am incredibly happy today. I’m so proud to represent this great club," the 28-year-old said. "City are where I want to be – at the top of the sport, competing for trophies. The club’s ambition aligns perfectly with mine and as a footballer there is nothing better than that.

"I love Manchester – it is my home now – and I love the Manchester City fans. Their support from day one has been absolutely unbelievable, and I appreciate them a lot. When I think about the trophies we have won and the way we have played our football during my time here, I couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.

Sky has slashed the price of its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle for the 2025/26 season, saving members £192 and offering more than 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.

Sky will show at least 215 live Premier League games this season, an increase of up to 100 more.

"My job now is to be the best I can be for the duration of this contract, so that I can play my part in helping us challenge for more silverware.

"I want to thank my teammates, Pep [Guardiola, Hugo [Viana, sporting director], the coaching staff and everyone at the club. This is such a special place, and I am grateful every single day for the support I receive. Now the hard work begins, and I want to promise the fans that I will give everything to win more trophies and bring more success to City."

Viana's work continues in what is expected to be a busy final few weeks of the transfer window for City. The futures of Ederson, Savinho, and Manu Akanji have to be resolved along with any potential replacements for those exits while Rico Lewis is also expected to sign a new deal to commit his future to the club after an uncertain summer.

As he continues that business, the sporting director is happy to have had a happy resolution to talks with an 'ultimate professional' at the club.

“As a club, we're really excited that Rúben has signed a new contract and committed his long-term future to the club. His hard work, professionalism and sheer dedication are clear to all of us every single day," he said.

"He is a leader in the dressing room and on the pitch. He is one of our captains, the players listen to him and Pep and the coaching staff love working with him. He is the ultimate professional.

“His performances over the past five years have been outstanding and he is a big reason why we have been so successful. Every time Rúben pulls on a City shirt, he gives his all for the badge and we are so happy to know he will be here for the next four years.”
