New Liverpool signing catches eye in training ground moment with Mohamed Salah

2 weeks ago 60

Young Liverpool goalkeeper Armin Pecsi, who signed for the club this summer and has joined the pre-season tour of Asia, has been impressing in training with his new teammates.

Pecsi, who will turn 21 during the upcoming season, is a highly rated shot-stopper. And he showed his ability during a training drill with Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai in footage shared on official Reds channels this week.

In the video, Salah and Szoboszlai are taking shots from the edge of the penalty area, with Pecsi flying across his goal to push the ball to the side and away from danger.

Pecsi has not played at senior level yet for Liverpool. He is expected to be with the Reds' U21s side for the upcoming campaign.

"They see a long-term project that they outlined for me," Pecsi told the Hungarian national team's YouTube channel after his move to Anfield was confirmed. "It’s hard to say this is one sentence because so many matches are analyzed in so many different ways.

"They have data on almost everything that was outlined during the meeting. It was quite astonishing how much attention they paid to every detail.

"Of course, it gives me great motivation that such a club, such data analysts, decided on my name, that they want to build me. So, that’s definitely my goal, and I want to show them that they chose the right person for the job.

"I met with a few members of the medical staff who conducted the various tests, and a separate group were responsible for my recruitment.

"I talked to them about the project, about what the goals might be in terms of development or even moving forward later. This was the first meeting, and everything will depend on the speed of my development."

Pecsi previously played for the Hungarian side Puskas Akademia, where he was a regular at senior level. And he was delighted to have been spotted by Liverpool.

"It was obviously a very good feeling when I first heard about the possible interest, or that they were watching me," Pecsi added. "And then as things developed and it became clear that it could be something more serious.

"I was rather shocked, and it occurred to me that it was what I had been working for in recent years, to possibly have such opportunities in my life. I was of the opinion that this should definitely be tried, so I hope that only good things will come out of it."

Liverpool.com says: Pecsi looks a real talent and there will be plenty of eyes on him when he takes to the field with Liverpool's U21s team. Under new coach Rob Page, he is likely to be a key man.
