Brentford head coach Keith Andrews has insisted that new signing Dango Ouattara is a replacement for Bryan Mbeumo, who moved to Manchester United, rather than Newcastle target Yoane Wissa.
Wissa, like Alexander Isak, wants to move clubs and has been training alone in the last couple of weeks. But Andrews has insisted that nothing has changed on that front as Newcastle and Liverpool await updates.
"I don’t see it," Andrews said. "I see Dango as Bryan’s replacement in terms of that area of the pitch. I see him as a versatile forward that I am really happy we have managed to get on board.
"We weren’t really aware he would be available, as soon as we knew it was a pretty easy decision to get him on board. Thankfully the club have been able to do that and it is a really significant investment for us. It will be a brilliant investment."
So far, Newcastle has been unwilling to match the asking price for Wissa, who is 28 and only has a year left on his contract in West London. Eddie Howe views him as a strong option to bolster his forward line.
"It’s a day-by-day one in terms of Wiss," Andrews continued. "As far as I know, nothing else has happened today, definitely didn’t yesterday, so as it was really.
"I have no idea what the situation will be. I have been up here since yesterday so we will deal with that during the week. Hopefully it can resolve itself sooner rather than later."
For Newcastle to soften its stance on Isak, the Magpies would need to bring in at least one striker as a replacement. It has already missed out on the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Joao Pedro and Benjamin Sesko this summer.
At the moment, Howe's men have remained insistent that Isak will not be going anywhere after an opening bid worth around $148 million (£110 million) was rejected for the Swede.

But Newcastle fans turned on Isak publicly on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, loudly chanting about him being "greedy" at the final whistle at Villa Park.
The Magpies could only draw 0-0 in the Midlands despite playing against 10 men for half an hour and appeared to be missing Isak's ruthlessness in the final third.
Liverpool.com says: Everyone involved in the transfer saga, at all points of the chain, could probably do with a resolution coming sooner rather than later. And there are now only two weeks remaining in the transfer window.
Arne Slot doesn't have much depth beyond his front three of Cody Gakpo, Ekitike and Mohamed Salah. Federico Chiesa and Harvey Elliott leaving can't be ruled out, and that would leave Liverpool even more in need of attacking reinforcements.
