Viktor Gyokeres is set to become one of the most expensive Premier League transfers this summer as Arsenal close in on his signature. The Gunners are clicking into gear in the window as they prepare to challenge to end their wait to return to the summit of English football.
Mikel Arteta is set to welcome the 27-year-old to north London after winning the race to sign the Sweden international, in a deal reportedly worth €63.5million (£54.9m) plus €10million in add-ons. Gyokeres is set to sign a five-year deal at the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal landing their primary number nine target following a jaw-dropping 54 goals in 52 matches last season.
However, reports suggest their dealings will not stop there despite Christian Norgaard already through the door and Gyokeres set to follow suit.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that a deal to sign Valencia defender Christian Mosquera is on the agenda for Arsenal to advance.
The Spanish defender reportedly only wants to join Arsenal after being enticed by the club's project.
He adds that talented attacker Ethan Nwaneri will become the focus of negotiations for a new deal in the coming days after the club progressed in talks to land the England under-21 international.
Chelsea forward Noni Madueke is also reportedly close to completing a deal to make the cross-London switch from Stamford Bridge.
He said: "Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal, the here we go is coming soon after progress in talks between Arsenal and Sporting.
"Arsenal are now willing to get closer to the €70million that is wanted by Sporting plus the €10m add-ons.
"The agreement is really close, imminent, for Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal.
"The player, as I told you, only wanted Arsenal, no chances to return to training, no chances to negotiate with other clubs, only Arsenal on a five-year deal.
"The agreement is not only imminent for Gyokeres and not only [that] because Arsenal in the coming days will formally complete a deal for Noni Madueke, his deal from Chelsea, but also a new contract for Ethan Nwaneri, which is really close.
"Progress in the last 48 hours then Arsenal will try to complete an agreement for Spanish talent Christian Mosquera, who also agreed personal terms with the Gunners."
After a quiet June, Arsenal look set to spark into life in the transfer window as they look to join the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool in formalising multiple deals in preparation for the new season.
The Gunners travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United on the opening day of the Premier League season with Gyokeres set to be in the ranks.
