Manchester City closed the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to just two points after edging out Fulham in a nine-goal thriller at Craven Cottage.

Pep Guardiola's side raced into a three-goal lead in the first half as Erling Haaland, Tijani Reijnders and Phil Foden found the net inside the opening 45 minutes. Although Emile Smith Rowe pulled one back for Fulham, Foden scored his second and City's fourth just after the break before Sander Berge's own-goal made it 5-1.

At this point, it felt as though the game was over and City could stroll to a fourth win in five top-flight matches. However, Fulham mounted a sensational comeback to score three times in 21 minutes as Alex Iwobi reduced the deficit to three before Samuel Chukwueze struck a quick-fire brace to make it 5-4.

12 minutes plus stoppage-time remained when Fulham scored their fourth, but City managed to see out the rest of the game - with the help of a Josko Gvardiol goal line clearance - to record a vital win in the Premier League title race. Guardiola's men now sit two points behind leaders Arsenal and four ahead of third place Chelsea.
