Thomas Frank has been sacked at Tottenham Hotspur, giving the club 11 days to appoint a new permanent or interim manager before they face a tough North London Derby test against Arsenal - and some fans in the football.london comments sections are leaning towards one exciting solution.
Dwindling patience with Frank's dismal run of results led the board to finally pull the trigger on his 8 months at Spurs, and he leaves the club five points above the relegation zone. The next manager will have to work with the club's extensive injury list as they try to restore a respectable league position and make the most of progression to the last 16 of the Champions League.
The sacking of Roberto De Zerbi at Marseille means that the former Brighton manager is available to take up the reins, having failed to lead the French giants into the next stage of the Champions League. Xabi Alonso is still considered one of the best young coaches in the world, despite not making much of a splash with Real Madrid's raft of superstars and leaving at the beginning of the year.
Ex-Barcelona man Xavi is also available, without a club since 2024 after a breakdown in his relationship with key figures there. Former Borussia Dortmund manager and Jurgen Klopp protege Edin Terzic is free, as is a more controversial pick in Enzo Maresca, most recently of Chelsea.
But there's only one man on some fans' minds. On our Facebook page, Gary Lee Clarke says: "Mason will take charge. Poch will be back after the World Cup. The wheels are already in motion."
Chris Spencer Craig writes: "How would Amorim or De Zerbi be any different to Frank? No. Klopp and Xabi? No chance they’re coming. Both too good for us at this stage. Poch? £18 million to get him out of his contract but would he come so close to the World Cup? Maybe."
Barry Fowles says: "Permanent manager now? Klopp or Alonso, but both won’t happen. Permanent in summer? For the love of God, Poch."
Ahmer Sheikh writes: "I guess Heitinga will be the temporary manager, and then Poch will take over after the World Cup."
Keith Correa isn't looking to the past for answers: "We will probably end up with Enzo or De Zerbi. Maybe a long term idea would be to get an interim manager because with our current fit players we will struggle over the remaining 12 games. We need around 12-14 points from 36. We have 4 for 24 in 2026."
David Horton says: "Xavi would be ideal, but Maresca or Alonso would be very good too. However, I expect to end up with De Zerbi or Terzic."
Gareth Johnstone writes: "I'd take Xabi, Poch or Klopp. Realistically Klopp won't take another Prem team, Xabi will hold out for Liverpool, so Poch I think. He could do wonders with youth players and improving mentality as he did last time. Also probably the only one who would still entertain us if we did go down. I'd take Mckenna as well to get us back up if that happened."
Steve John Hudson would like to see another old favourite back at the club: "Get Harry Redknapp back for the last twelve games, then appoint Pochettino after the World Cup."
Steve Bonham agrees: "We're all debating who's next... Get Harry back till end of season, then bring in Poch after the World Cup."
