Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-0 thanks to a Nico O'Reilly brace in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

Manchester City star Nico O'Reilly has urged his teammates to build on their 2-0 victory over Arsenal 2-0 in the Carabao Cup final. A tight first half ended goalless but after the break City pushed on and brushed aside the Gunners.

O'Reilly's first came when Kepa Arrizabalaga failed to collect Rayan Cherki's cross and allowed the full-back to head into an open goal. Just moments later, O'Reilly made it two when Matheus Nunes' deep cross was powered into the net by the academy graduate.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, O'Reilly said: "Unbelievable feeling. To win a final, to beat this team, we know how good they are. We need to build on it, it will give us good momentum. Buzzing with today.

"Bit of disbelief seeing all the fans cheering like that when I scored those goals. Really a good feeling and a great birthday weekend.

"My whole family came down today. They are all in the stand and I know they will be buzzing.

"I can't wait to celebrate with them. Since I was a kid I always played in midfield, I was always arriving in the box and scoring goals.

"To bring it in at senior level and the highest level, it's good for me and adds goals to my game. A great feeling."

City sit nine points behind the Gunners in the Premier League but they still have a game in hand over them. The Blues also have to play Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium next month and Pep Guardiola will hope the Carabao Cup victory can be a springboard for a strong finish to the season.
