Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich transfer saga takes new twist as Chelsea submit Barcelona bid

23 hours ago 57

Chelsea only have a day or so left to wrap up any remaining business in the transfer window. The Blues have forked out about £280m on new players this summer, yet they've shown no sign of slowing down ahead of Monday night's deadline.

Fermin Lopez continues to be heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, while Facundo Buonanotte looks set to join on loan from Brighton. With Nicolas Jackson's future still up in the air and Liam Delap injured, the west Londoners could be inclined to enter the market for another striker.

A new face or two wouldn't go amiss, but there's still a lot of players looking for a new club. Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling have failed to attract much - if any - interest this summer, while Axel Disasi has been mooted as a potential target for Bournemouth.

Even Tyrique George could leave in the final hours of the window, with Alejandro Garnacho and Jamie Gittens expected to battle it out for a place on the left wing now. So, with that being said, football.london has rounded up the latest Chelsea transfer news;

Bayern chief breaks silence on Chelsea chaos

Max Eberl has confirmed that Bayern Munich will send Jackson back to Chelsea. football.london understands that the 24-year-old striker, who was set to join the Bundesliga champions on loan, will stay put at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone following Bayern's 3-2 away win over Augsburg on Saturday night, the sporting director described a deal as being 'relatively close'. As quoted by German outlet Bild, Eberl said: "It was relatively close before the game.

"Chelsea informed us that they would like the player back - after we reached an agreement yesterday - and were allowed to undergo the medical. Now the situation is that the boy is here in Munich, but we are sending him back."

Nicolas Jackson's loan move to Bayern Munich has now been scrapped.

Nicolas Jackson's loan move to Bayern Munich has now been scrapped.

It's understood that Chelsea won't be proceeding with the loan. So, Jackson, who flew to Bavaria on Saturday night, no longer has permission to undergo a medical as he's still under contract with the Blues and required to return.

football.london says: "While I feel a bit sorry for Nicolas Jackson, he's a Chelsea player until he's not. I'm glad he's coming back. As for Bayern Munich, they would've secured the striker's signature by now had they not taken so long to make a decision. That said, I don't this a deal is off. Perhaps the Bundesliga giants will pull their finger our and submit a respectable bid."

Chelsea submit bid for Barcelona star

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have submitted a bid to sign Fermin Lopez from Barcelona. The report claims that the Blues have offered the Catalan outfit €40m (£34.6m) for the 22-year-old attacking midfielder.

It's said that Chelsea sent an official proposal shortly after the 2-0 win over Fulham, and they're yet to hear back from the Spanish champions. Romano reckons that Barcelona won't want to sell Lopez, unless the player asks to leave the Camp Nou.

football.london says: "Fermin Lopez would be a good addition to the Chelsea squad, but I fear that an attacking midfielder isn't necessary. Especially if Facundo Buonanotte is supposed to already be on his way to Stamford Bridge on loan. It's one or the other for me, not both. The only No.10 that I'd bring in right now is Morgan Rogers."

Chelsea announce Garnacho's transfer

Alejandro Garnacho was in attendance at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea's 2-0 win over Fulham. The Blues reached an agreement with Manchester United for the 21-year-old winger on Thursday evening, marking the end of their eight-month pursuit.

The Blues tried to sign Garnacho in January, but they were unsuccessful. Chelsea reignited their interest shortly after Ruben Amorim informed the Argentina international that he was free to leave Old Trafford this summer.

Alejandro Garnacho has joined Chelsea from Manchester United for just £40m.

Alejandro Garnacho has joined Chelsea from Manchester United for just £40m.

"It's an incredible moment for my family and I to join this great club," Garnacho told club media after penning a seven-year contract. "I can't wait to get started.

"I watched the Club World Cup and to join the world champions is special - we're the best team in the world! It's amazing to be here, I'm very happy."

football.london says: "I'm looking forward to see how Alejandro Garnacho gets on. He wasn't the first name on my shortlist of dream transfer targets for Chelsea this summer, but I can see why he was picked up. On paper, it's a good signing. I just hope he - and his brother - have now left the off-field antics behind them."
