Arsenal and Burnley could be missing as many as nine players between them when they meet at Turf Moor on Saturday.
While Burnley have had a full week to prepare for the Gunners, Mikel Arteta's side were in action in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, securing a 2-0 win over Brighton despite refraining from rolling out a full-strength squad.
During that clash, Ethan Nwaneri and Bukayo Saka sealed the deal for Arsenal, while Andre Harriman-Annous made his first-team debut.
Teenage sensation Max Dowman also featured. As a result of the win, Arsenal will now face Crystal Palace in the quarter-finals of the competition come December.
However, Arteta wasn't able to leave the game unscathed, with a couple of players picking up injuries which will see them sidelined for the clash against Burnley. Scott Parker, meanwhile, has a number of injuries in his own squad to navigate.
Arsenal
Unfortunately for Arteta, he could be without six first-team stars when his side makes the trip up the M6. William Saliba and Gabriel Martinelli both missed the Brighton game as a result of injury, and it is unknown whether they will be fit to feature against the Clarets.
Elsewhere, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Noni Madueke are all ruled out of the match as they continue to recover from knee injuries. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus is also not expected to feature for his current club until 2026, as a result of suffering an ACL injury back in January.
Speaking about his injured players who have been recovering from long-term issues, Arteta said midweek: "[The long-termers] are progressing really well. They are starting to do certain activities.
"They are super willing to be available as quick as possible. But at the moment, none of them are in contention in the next week or so."
At the time of writing, Arsenal currently sit first in the Premier League standings as a result of seven wins, one loss and one draw from their opening nine fixtures, with a four-point lead over second-place Bournemouth.
And with a tough run of form up ahead, as well as the responsibility of balancing Premier League and Champions League outings, Arteta will hope that his injury list thins in the coming weeks.
Burnley
Parker also heads into the fold with a number of injuries to navigate, after a tough start to the 2025/26 Premier League campaign. Currently languishing in 16th as a result of just three wins from their opening nine, Burnley have struggled to adapt to life in the English top flight since achieving promotion from the Championship.
However, their progress has been slightly hindered by a number of absentees. As it stands, Zeki Amdouni, Connor Roberts and Jordan Beyer are all out until 2026.
