Rooted to the bottom of the table with only two points - 13 adrift of safety - winless in the Premier League for 253 days and having conceded 35 goals this season, Wolves' top-flight future looks increasingly bleak.
Guaranteed to be bottom on Christmas Day, it is a far cry from the festive gift supporters had been hoping for.
But Wolves are not alone in their Christmas wish for a win.
Brantham Athletic, competing in the Isthmian League North Division at level eight of the English football pyramid, are also enduring a winless campaign.
Like Wolves, they sit bottom of their table with two points.
In fact, Wolves and Brantham are the only sides across the top eight tiers of English football still searching for their first victory of the season.
Yet for Brantham, Wolves' equally bleak start has provided an unexpected source of reassurance.
"It does give us some comfort that we're not alone," chairman Peter Crowhurst told BBC Sport.
"When I look at Wolves' performances and our own, we're remarkably similar. Both clubs seem very close to success but are not quite there yet."
With the start to the season they have had, many would assume Brantham's survival is already out of reach. But Crowhurst refuses to concede defeat.
"I'm an optimist in everything I do," he said. "Every week we're strengthening and our management team believe in what they're building.
"We still want to stay in this league. It's our first time here and we love it."
That optimism extends to Wolves too.
"What Rob Edwards did at Luton in difficult circumstances shows what he's capable of," Crowhurst said.
"I see the same qualities in our management team - charisma, technical knowledge, and the ability to get the best out of what they have."
So who will get three points first - Brantham or Wolves?
Crowhurst said: "That could become a national bet. I've got to say Brantham, haven't I?
"We'll lay down the gauntlet to Wolves and say we'll win before you do, and hopefully that spurs both clubs on to a win."
