Noni Madueke reflected on Arsenal's promising start to the season after a dominate victory against Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League
Noni Madueke has explained how his Arsenal team-mates can help him reach the 'next level'. The 23-year-old winger fired the Gunners to a 3-0 win over Club Brugge in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, finding the net either side of half-time.
Madueke broke the deadlock inside the opening half-hour, smashing the ball into the top right-hand corner. He shrugged off Joaquin Seys and stormed past Raphael Onyedika before beating Dani van den Heuvel from outside the box.
The England international, who swapped Stamford Bridge for the Emirates Stadium in the summer, doubled his tally for the evening shortly after the break. Madueke latched onto a looping cross from Martin Zubimendi at the back post, heading the ball into an open net.
He's yet to open his account for Arsenal in the Premier League, but the former Chelsea ace has now scored in each of his last two appearances on the European stage. Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Madueke reflected on the result.
"The first one was really nice," said the Englishman. "Second one, tap in, but yeah, that first one was sweet, so I'm delighted with the result today."
Arsenal remain unbeaten and top of the 'league phase' table with two games to spare. On his performance, Madueke said: "I think the bare minimum I need to give to my team is threat.
"They need to give me the ball and think something can happen, and then obviously, try to score and be as decisive as possible. I feel like that's the next level I need to get to in terms of being consistently decisive for my club and my country and I think I can reach that level."
On the environment at the Sobha Realty Training Centre following a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa at the weekend, Madueke said: "We're tight. I feel that's the main thing, like we want each other to do well. We know that there are loads of minutes for all of us.
"We know that we have top, top players everywhere in the squad, so it's about all of us as a collective. It's not really about any individual, and we know that we will have a part to play, so that's a good thing about this team."
Despite dropping three crucial points in the title race on Saturday, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League. The Gunners are still in the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup, too.
On a promising start to the season, Madueke added: "I feel like, we're fighting on all four fronts. I feel like we can compete on all four fronts and obviously I feel like we can we can win this competition.
"I feel like we can win the league as well, and that has to be our aim. And yeah, I think we're, we're at a good place at the moment. We just got to keep going."
