‘Not this toxic guy’ – Tottenham fans scream for Pochettino return after latest manager link

1 hour ago 37

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been left in a Roberto De Zerbi or Mauricio Pochettino dilemma as the club continues to search for solutions to their managerial problems.

Tottenham will now have to go back to the drawing board after their latest defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was a 3-0 loss, one that could have a severe impact on the manager in the dugout – Igor Tudor – as reports claimed Spurs could sack him should they suffer defeat in their relegation six-pointer.

No decision has been made yet, with the international break now underway, but reports have begun to surface on the plans Tottenham have in place.

Tottenham consider Roberto De Zerbi as Mauricio Pochettino debate splits Spurs fans

It has been revealed that discussions have been held over Roberto De Zerbi taking over Tottenham immediately, as well as in the summer.

However, given that the former Brighton man would be coming into a relegation-threatened Spurs side, it is understood that a proposal includes a release clause in his contract to account for the possibility of relegation.

Tottenham fans aware of the latest reports have now shared their thoughts, with some split over whether to appoint De Zerbi now and lose out on Mauricio Pochettino in the summer. Others, however, believe it is an opportunity they cannot afford to miss.

One fan explained their stance, saying: “I have always just wanted Poch, but with the state we are now in, we just need to do whatever is possible to stay up.”

Another supporter rejected the idea, commenting: “We want Poch, not this toxic guy,” while one more added: “We should not complain. He would keep us up in the league if he manages us. Forget about his temperament. On a short-term basis, he would definitely make a massively positive impact and keep us in the division!”

Another urged the manager to take the job, stating: “Come on Roberto, just take it now,” with one more adding: “Idc, just keep us up.”

Another fan was convinced he should have been the first option instead of Tudor, saying: “This is who they should have got instead of Tudor the first time round.”

Another stated: “I do not know why so many Spurs fans think we are in a position to be saying yes and no to managers right now. In an ideal world, I would look for other candidates, but he obviously is a good coach and we cannot turn away from it 😭.”

One more simply stated: “No No No,” accompanied by a GIF of Pochettino

Spurs survival fight leaves no margin for error

Tottenham find themselves in 17th place, a single point above 18th-placed West Ham United, who themselves lost 2-0 at the weekend.

There are seven games left in the Premier League season and, given how tight the battle for survival is, the margin for error is slim.

With most managerial links pointing towards foreign managers, including Adi Hutter, it is clear that the current strategy is not to turn to a former player or manager who knows the club.

The coming weeks will be crucial for Tottenham, who must get their next managerial appointment right if they are to stay up, should they decide to part ways with Tudor.
