Tottenham Hotspur have missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White, but a fresh development elsewhere could open up another path in the transfer market, and it may well be one the club already explored earlier this summer.
Over the past few weeks, Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer activity has pretty much been linked with a move for Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White.
That deal has since fallen through, with the Forest man putting pen to paper, signing a three-year contract extension at the City Ground until 2028.
Tottenham must now turn their attention to other alternatives in the attacking midfield position following their latest setback.
Nottingham Forest bid rejected for Tottenham target James McAtee
Before reports of Morgan Gibbs-White started to become mainstream, Tottenham had been linked with a move for other attacking midfielders, including James McAtee.
The Manchester City academy graduate was one who Tottenham were reported to have shown interest in this summer, with the Lilywhites monitoring his progress.
A major report has now emerged regarding the youngster, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Nottingham Forest have put in an official bid of £25 million for the 22-year-old.
However, it is claimed that City have rejected the offer for their young talent. Romano’s tweet reads: “Manchester City have rejected £25m official bid from Nottingham Forest for James McAtee.”
Spurs may have a chance to swoop if the price is right
With £25 million not deemed enough by the former Premier League champions, it remains to be seen how much City would be willing to accept for them to part ways with McAtee.
It was reported a few days back that Tottenham may now have an opportunity to land McAtee, following their failed attempt to sign Gibbs-White.
City are open to selling their youngster, but it now seems that it would take a substantial amount if they are to sell the England international this transfer window.
