Nuno Espirito Santo would be open to a move to West Ham United as the pressure cranks up on Graham Potter. The Hammers have endured a woeful start to the new campaign under the former Chelsea coach.
West Ham have lost four out of their opening five games of the season and sit 19th in the Premier League table.
That has seen Potter’s position called into question, with suggestions that the club hierarchy are already looking to replace him.
Former Nottingham Forest boss Nuno Espirito Santo has emerged as a potential candidate to replace him. He only left the City Ground earlier this month following a major falling out with owner Evangelos Marinakis.
Despite having only been out of the dugout for a short period, Nuno would be open to claiming another job very soon.
According to the Mirror, the Portuguese is understood to be interested in a move to the London Stadium having already held talks with club chiefs.
Should he claim the role, it would become Nuno’s fourth job in England. He initially enjoyed huge success with Wolverhampton Wanderers before a short spell with Tottenham Hotspur.
Nuno was appointed by Forest in December 2023 and led the Midlands side to a place in the Europa League during his 18 months at the helm. Potter in the meantime has endured a disappointing spell with West Ham, having won just six of his 25 appearances in all competitions .
Asked if he still has the support of his bosses, Potter said: “I have no reason to think not but I also understand the environment and the results.
"I understand we’re in a tough situation. We want to do better than we are and at the moment we’re not. We have to work, stick together and find those solutions.”
Potter added: "Everyone at the club feels that pressure because the situation isn't what we want. You have to face it up.
"We want to do better than we are and at the moment we're not. So we have to find a solution. We have to work, we have to stick together, and we have to find those answers."
Potter, 50, signed a two-and-a-half year deal with West Ham when he replaced Julen Lopetegui midway through last season. Away from Nuno, the West Ham board also have other options in mind should Potter be moved on.
Former boss Slaven Bilic is also hoping to return to the club as he is another option, while ex-Wolves manager Gary O’Neil – who used to play for the Hammers at Upton Park – is also an alternative for the club.
