Desiree Scott, who reversed her plans to retire to suit up for the Ottawa Rapid for the debut Northern Super League season, says her playing career will now end after the playoffs.
The three-time Canadian Olympic soccer medallist went to three World Cups, making 188 appearances for the senior national team before her international retirement in May.
Scott, 38, said in October 2024 the time was right for her to stop playing at the end of her NWSL season. By January, the Rapid announced she would be continuing her playing career in Ottawa.
The midfielder scored the winning goal in the Rapid's first-ever game and has racked up 1,445 minutes this season. The Rapid have clinched one of four playoff spots in the six-team league.

"Closing out the final chapter of my playing career here on Canadian soil, in front of incredible fans in a professional league once dreamed of, has been my honour," Scott said in a news release Monday.
"She humbly leads and supports her team, she is unbound by expectations or limitations, and she works with a drive and perseverance that is inspiring not just to her teammates on the field, but to the whole organization," added team CEO Thomas Gilbert.
The team said it will celebrate her career during their final regular season home game Oct. 8.
