It's even considered renaming one of its most popular dishes
A Chinese restaurant in Manchester has been inspired by a visit from a top Manchester City player to consider renaming one of its most popular dishes.
Last week, Erling Haaland - who first joined City in 2022 - posted on social media a number of pictures pictures of himself outside venues in the city centre, including Pho Cue and Fat Pats last Wednesday (November 6),
He also stopped by at Happy Seasons, in the city’s Chinatown district, for a quick meal. The restaurant, which has been going since 1982, posted of the visit: “Massively shocked to see @erling come through for a triple roast meat! Couldn’t believe my eyes when he walked in lol. Thanks for coming in pal.”
In another post, the restaurant added: "Okay, we’re still buzzing that Erling Haaland came through for a triple roasted meat! As big City fans ourselves, our jaws just dropped the moment he walked in. We’re thankful he stopped by for a cheeky roast duck and crispy pork belly!"

Following the footballer’s appreciation for his meal, the restaurant also said it had considered changing its menu as a result - paying homage to his order.
Their Triple Roast Meats - consisting of roasted duck, roasted pork belly, and roasted char Siu - will keep its name, but customers who order the Haaland Special will get the exact same order.
The restaurant posted online: “The Haaland Special! We’re just kidding! It’s actually our classic Triple Roasted Meats with Boiled Rice — a dish we’ve been serving here in Manchester Chinatown for over 40 years.
“Although, to be fair, Haaland did order the roasted duck and crispy belly pork. So, as funny as it sounds, if you ask for “The Haaland Special,” you’ll get exactly what he ordered — lol.
“Our staff are loving the banter, so come on through! We roast over 60 ducks a day, all freshly marinated the day before and roasted on the same day they’re served. It’s the same method we’ve used for over 40 years, and it’s all served with our in-house sweet soy sauce, made entirely from natural herbs, spices, and sweeteners.”
The post was enough to entice people into wanting to visit the restaurant themselves soon. One person wrote: "I need to visit!! Food looks ace." Another commented: "
Others have said they will be ordering the Haaland special - and asking for it by name - when they next visit. One commented: "I’ll take the Haaland and rice." Another wrote: "I want to try the Haaland special."
In fact, it’s not the first dish that’s been named after the City striker. Popular sandwich spot Ad Maiora, in the Northern Quarter, is loved by the player and has a sandwich named after him inspired by some of his favourite things.
The Haarland sandwich features Parma ham, burrata, pesto, truffle oil, sun-dried tomatoes, pistachios and rocket. And tucking in, it’s a sweet, salty and rich mixture of flavours.
Happy Seasons is on 59 Faulkner Street, Manchester, M1 4FF.
