Liverpool resumes its Champions League campaign today as it looks to bounce back from Saturday's heavy defeat by Manchester City.

The Reds were hammered at the Etihad Stadium as they conceded four goals in the space 20 minutes either side of half-time.

Things aren't about to get get any easier for Arne Slot's men, as they take on defending European champion Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

For the second season in succession, PSG required a play-off to make it into the knockout stage proper, but that is no indication of a lack of quality – as the Reds discovered to their detriment last season.

Much like last term, the Parisians seem to have kicked into gear when it matters, and they go into today's game off the back of four successive wins in all competitions.

Luis Enrique has some of the best players in the world at his disposal in the French capital, and they will all be on show against Liverpool.

The PSG predicted team would be enough to strike fear into any side in Europe – in particular the likely front three, which comprises current Ballon d'Or holder Ousmane Dembele as well as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue.

Doue isn't the only wonderkid in the team either, with fellow 20-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery in line for a start in midfield, alongside two Vitinha and another young midfielder in the 21-year-old Joao Neves.

The defense is also packed with quality, with Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes – arguably the best right-back and the best left-back in the world – both in line to start.

Brazil captain Marquinhos should be joined at center-back by Willian Pacho, while Matvei Safonov is expected to start in between the sticks after displacing Lucas Chevalier as PSG's No.1 goalkeeper earlier this season.

In his pre-game press conference, PSG boss Enrique said that he hopes for a repeat of the performance that his side put in during last season's first leg against Liverpool, when the French giant dominated proceedings, only to lose to a late Harvey Elliott strike.

"I think that we played a very very high-level first leg," Enrique recalled. "The fact we lost that game is incredible, it defied football.

"I would take your hand off for a performance of the same quality, but not the result!

"We want to play attacking football, we try to win regardless of the opponent, and above all enjoy the moment at the Parc, this incredible stadium, and our fans. It's great to play these matches at home. That'll be the key."
