Paul Merson and Alan Shearer are both predicting that Liverpool will bring its losing streak to an end this weekend as Arne Slot's men take on Fulham in the Premier League.

With the Reds up before Chelsea, who host Manchester City on Sunday, they need to get a victory on the board in the race for the Champions League places, which is hotting even further as we enter the final stretch of the campaign.

And while Liverpool lost at Brighton in its last Premier League fixture three weeks ago — losing at the Etihad Stadium and Paris Saint-Germain without scoring since then too — Merson and Shearer are backing Slot's side.

"Liverpool have to concentrate on the league now," Merson wrote for Sportskeeda. "You look at their remaining fixtures, and if you're talking about absolute 'gimme' games, there's maybe two, starting with this clash against Fulham.

"Fulham are a funny team. Even though they haven't been great this season, if they manage to get a fluke win over Liverpool, they will be just one point behind sixth-placed Chelsea.

"It's unbelievable how tight the fight for European qualification is this season. For Liverpool, this game is more important than the second leg against PSG.

"I think they should bring Mohamed Salah back into the line-up for this one. I don't know why, but I have a feeling Liverpool will win."

Merson went for a 2-0 win for Liverpool and Shearer is on the same page. "You can imagine the noise if Liverpool lose here," the ex-Newcastle striker told Betfair.

"They are already under huge pressure being really, really poor defensively. Fulham will go there knowing the job that they have to do.

"If they can quieten down Anfield for 20 minutes, then you definitely hear the moans and groans after that and that will be part of their job done.

"I'm going to back Liverpool, though. I think I'll back Liverpool. Arne Slot will without doubt will change the system again and Salah will be back. Home win."

After this weekend's game with Fulham, Liverpool has an even trickier run-in. It goes to the Hill Dickinson Stadium for the first time next Sunday and ends the season with matches against Manchester United, Chelsea, Aston Villa and Brentford.

Liverpool.com says: Given the remaining fixtures, this is a massive weekend for the Reds. If Liverpool doesn't beat Fulham, the pressure will ramp up even further with some even tougher games on the horizon.
