Ruben Amorim's future at Manchester United has been cast into speculation as of recent, and Paul Scholes won't be a fan of one manager who has been linked to replace him if recent comments are anything to go by

Paul Scholes would not be a fan of Roberto Mancini replacing Ruben Amorim at Manchester United, if his recent rant about the club is anything to go by.
The Portuguese tactician's future at Old Trafford has been cast into speculation as of recent, given he has failed to turn the tide since taking over from Erik ten Hag almost a year ago. Amorim could only guide United to a dismal 15th-place finish in the Premier League standings last term, while 2025/26 has seen the 40-year-old achieve a mixed-bag of results with three wins, three losses and a draw to show for his efforts.
As a result, a number of names have been thrown into the hat as to who could potentially replace Amorim should he be given the boot, with the likes of Gareth Southgate, Oliver Glasner and even Zinedine Zidane being brought up in conversation. Meanwhile, Mancini - who won Manchester City's first ever Premier League title in 2011/12 - has also been linked with the post.
As per a report from the Sun, the 60-year-old - who has been out of work since he left the Saudi Arabian national team last year - has told associates that he could make a change at Manchester United given the chance. However, Reds legend Scholes may be opposed to the idea of another former member of staff of United's bitter rivals being involved with his beloved club.
Speaking with The Times about a swathe of City executives making the move to the Red side of Manchester, he said: "You’ve got Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada, then there’s others. I don’t think Manchester United should do that.
"City have been good for the past ten years, so we hope they bring a bit of that, but it’s not what a Manchester United person would want. It’s not what we want and it’s probably not what the fans want either.
“You talk about DNA, there’s nobody there who knows what a Manchester United person is. Darren Fletcher is the only one who knows anything about what it’s like to be a Manchester United player. And look, you don’t always have to be the best player, but you just have to have the balls to be able to play for the club, don’t you?"
Former team-mate Nicky Butt was also in agreement with Scholes' stance on the matter, explaining: "It’s unbelievable. Every City staff member goes to Man United now.
"Real Madrid wouldn’t do it with Barcelona or vice versa. If you have a DNA that’s solid, you should go and handpick the really good coaches — United did that with Kieran McKenna. You see a shining light at Tottenham and bring him in and he teaches you things, but right now there’s no one except Darren Fletcher."
Amorim may have bought himself some much needed time ahead of the international break, courtesy of a 2-0 win over a newly-promoted Sunderland AFC on home soil. However, the pressure will continue to mount when United face fierce rivals, Liverpool, at Anfield on Sunday.
However, the head coach doesn't see his job in danger just yet, claiming he has the backing of Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the United board at present. Speaking during a pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, Amorim said: "He tells me all the time, sometimes with a message after the games but you know, I know and Jim knows that football is not like that.
"The most important thing is the next game. You cannot control the next day in football so I know that but it is really good to hear that also because of the noise. Omar and Jason tell me that all the time."
He added: "First of all I can feel it, it is not just that thing that people talk [about]. I feel the support every day. Sometimes the pressure I put on myself and the team is often so much bigger than them. I know it is going to take a while but I don't want to think like that, I said that last year.
"It is really good to hear that, I think it helps our fans understand that the leadership knows it will take a while but, at the same moment, I don't like that because it will give a feeling like we have time to work things out so I don't want that feeling here in our club. It is good to feel the support but we need to show people, at a big club, we are ready to win games."
