Pep Guardiola has opened up on his future at Manchester City, explaining how his fate is decided, despite him being at the Etihad Stadium for the next two years

Pep Guardiola has made a major revelation regarding his future at Manchester City.
The 54-year-old's future was questioned last season after the club suffered a noticeable dip in form. Reports suggested that club executives were discreetly preparing for the Catalan coach's departure, and there were even whispers of England approaching him over the vacant Three Lions job following Gareth Southgate's exit.
However, Guardiola quashed those rumours in November by committing to a new deal that should keep him in the north west until 2027, temporarily halting speculation about his departure. Yet, the conversation around Guardiola's career plans has resurfaced after he shared his intention to take a break from football after his stint with City.
In an interview with GQ Hype Magazine, Guardiola said: "I don't know. The truth is, I don't know, but I don't think I'm... I don't know, because you can also have large work groups that help you with certain things.
"I know that after this spell with City I'm going to stop, that's for sure, it's decided, more than decided. I don't know how long I'll stop for, a year, two years, three years, five, ten, fifteen, I don't know.
"But I'm going to stop after this spell with City, because I need to stop and focus on myself, on my body. In Catalan, they say badar. Badar, badar, badar...
"I want to do this, simply stop and watch the cows go by when the train goes by. My grandfather used to say, you look at me like cows watch the train go by.

"Well, that's it, you have to stop and watch it go by. And then life... I had never thought that I would coach, that I would go to Germany to coach, to England, and be the coach of Barcelona, or that I would play for Barcelona.
"We think we're in control, but no, something's bound to happen that'll put something in front of me, and I'll say, 'Oh, do I want to do this or not?' And if not, well, I'll figure it out. And I think my plan now is this: stop, stop...And then we'll see."
He added: "I think I know how to stop at the right moment. The same thing happened to me with my coaching job [at Barcelona], there came a time when I said enough is enough. I'm going to look for another challenge."

Guardiola left Barcelona in 2012 following a remarkable spell that saw him guide his cherished club to 14 trophies across just four campaigns. The Spanish tactician subsequently secured seven honours during a three-year stint at Bayern Munich before making the move to Manchester.
The former midfielder has claimed six Premier League crowns with City, though the dominant period he established in England now faces a serious challenge following Liverpool's remarkable expenditure this summer.
Arne Slot's squad have already invested £300million during this transfer window, and remain poised to potentially spend over £120million on what could become another British record fee for Newcastle United's Alexander Isak.
