Good morning and welcome along to the Pep Guardiola press conference blog ahead of City's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
The Blues trounced Exeter in the FA Cup on Saturday but will be expecting a much tougher task at St James' Park. Due to how close City are to the final, we can expect Guardiola to put out as strong a team as possible for this game. City do have the advantage of being at home in the second leg, so avoiding defeat in the north east would make them favourites, even marginally, to advance to the final.
City's hands are tied slightly by the amount of injuries currently plaguing their squad. These issues are likely to be addressed in the press conference by Guardiola. As will the possibility of making further additions to the squad in the January transfer window.
