Pep Guardiola press conference LIVE Man City injury updates and Premier League team news

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola will speak to the media this afternoon ahead of the Premier League trip to West Ham on Saturday night.

City head into the game after a heavy defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday night. The 3-0 loss has left their European hopes hanging by a thread.

Guardiola needs to motivate his team ahead of a return to league action. City could be as many as ten points behind Arsenal before they kick off at the London Stadium.

Guardiola opted to rest players before the Real game and he is likely to be asked about team selection in his press conference. As well as reflecting on the Madrid defeat, Guardiola will also offer injury updates and a look at the opposition.

Nuno Espirito Santos' side are in a relegation battle and could move out of the drop zone should they beat City and other results go their way.

Your City questions answered!

City looked to have put the disappointment of their 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest behind them as they produced a dominant display against Newcastle in the FA Cup last weekend. And then they travelled to Madrid.

A 3-0 defeat to Real Madrid leaves them needing a miracle in the second leg next week and before then they have another tough trip down to face West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday night. With so much going on at the club, we'll be hosting weekly Q&A sessions with our chief City writer Simon Bajkowski.

Hello!

Good morning and welcome to the Guardiola press conference blog. The City head coach's mood will be interesting when he addresses the media this lunchtime. His side were disappointingly beaten by Real Madrid on Wednesday and their Champions League hopes are in jeopardy heading into the return leg. City could also be ten points behind Arsenal when they kick off at the London Stadium on Saturday night.

While he has every reason to be downbeat, Guardiola has made a habit of being positive when the odds are stacked against his side. City must bounce back against West Ham but how they do that will be interesting.

Stay tuned for updates...
