Pep Guardiola press conference LIVE Man City team news and injury updates as Antoine Semenyo signs

2 months ago 31

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola will be speaking to the media today ahead of the FA Cup third round tie at home to Exeter City.

The main source of questions will be around Antoine Semenyo, who arrived from Bournemouth this morning on a five-and-a-half-year deal. The Blues have spent £62.5m to bring the Ghana international in after he bagged ten goals in the first half of the campaign with the Cherries.

Guardiola has been coy when asked about Semenyo but now the 26-year-old is in the building we can expect the City boss to have plenty to say on his new recruit. Semenyo could make his debut for the Blues this weekend when City play host to the League One club.

City's squad will be stretched for the game due to several injuries to first-team players but a game against third-tier opposition could allow Guardiola to give some of the club's youngsters an opportunity.

Semenyo transfer confirmed

City have signed Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth for £62.5million after negotiating a deal. Semenyo had a release clause for £65m that became active this month but after winning the race for his signature the Blues proposed a different fee structure. The forward joins on a five-and-a-half-year contract and could make his debut in the FA Cup tie against Exeter City on Saturday. The 26-year-old has impressed over the past two seasons with Bournemouth and attracted interest from a host of clubs with Liverpool and Manchester United among those keen.

But City made themselves first choice and the Ghana international will add another attacking option to Pep Guardiola's side. Semenyo has scored 10 goals in 20 Premier League games this season and his attacking instincts, versatility and work-rate attracted City to his signature.
