Hello and welcome to Pep Guardiola's Manchester City press conference ahead of the Premier League trip to Sunderland on New Year's Day.
City are in fine form having won their last eight matches in all competitions but begin 2026 five points behind Arsenal in the league table after the Gunners impressively swept aside Aston Villa on Thursday night. The trip to newly-promoted Sunderland will be a tough task for the Blues with the Black Cats unbeaten on home turf this season.
A win would see City cut the gap at the top to two points and open some daylight to the sides below after Villa, Chelsea and Manchester United all failed to win on Tuesday. Guardiola will discuss the title race and provide some injury news with Rodri returning to the squad as an unused substitute last time out at Nottingham Forest but City are still missing Mateo Kovacic, Jeremy Doku and Oscar Bobb.
The latter is subject of transfer interest and with the January window opening tomorrow there will be plenty of transfer talk with Antoine Semenyo a top target for City.
