Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke to his players after they beat Arsenal to hammer home their thinking for the run-in

Pep Guardiola hammered home to his Manchester City players that they weren't top of the table moments after they downed Arsenal at the Etihad. A 2-1 win over the Gunners boosts City chances of coming from behind again to win another league title, yet Guardiola was quick to cut the celebrations after the players returned to the dressing room.

Arsenal still lead City by three points and while the Blues have a game in hand they have a tougher schedule and will have more matches later in the season. Even if Guardiola's side beat Burnley, they could still find themselves six points off top spot by the time they play next in the league away at Everton.

Rodri and Bernardo Silva were majestic in the crunch game with Arsenal but the Ballon d'Or winner will miss the trip to Burnley with a groin injury and many in the City team do not have the same experience of how to handle a tight run-in in a title race. Guardiola let all the players know before they left the stadium on Sunday how they need to be thinking for these final weeks.

"We talk immediately in the dressing room after the game: 'Don't lose focus'", said Guardiola. "Arsenal is top of the league, right now would be champions.

"The recovery is a lot less than the last few weeks, it is just a few days so that's why you have to see how people recover emotionally and physically. There are six games left and we know exactly what is going to happen when we get results or just in case we don't."
