The Manchester City FC manager visited with his son Marius
The owners of a Prestwich wine bar have said they were greeted by ‘football royalty’ last week for a very special private dining experience.
Whole Bunch Wines, on Church Lane, originally opened ten years ago under the name of Grape to Grain, rebranding to its new identity last year. The wine bar and deli, run by owner Tom Sneesby, specialises in high-quality wine, craft beer, and cheese, which can be enjoyed in-store or ordered for takeaway.
The wine shop also hosts its own private Omakase events, which can feature up to 20 courses of handmade sushi freshly prepared in front of diners. Purchased fresh, the menu often features a variety of surprises and is strictly limited to a maximum of ten guests at a time.

Last week, the venue - which is lovingly self-proclaimed to be an ‘off-licence with a difference’ - hosted Manchester City FC manager Pep Guardiola and his son Marius for the private Omakase experience.
Sharing details of the experience on Friday (March 20), Whole Bunch Wines posted: “We were lucky enough to welcome @pepteam and @marius.guardiola on a private Omakase last night. Lovely down to earth guys, friendly, humble and sound as f***! Plus they chose some banger wines to drink too…yum!”
The father-and-son also posed for photos with chef Philip Chan, of Makoto Zushi, who had prepared the evening of courses. The post added: “If you want to join Philip on a @makoto_zushi Omakase evening here, he’s in residence every Saturday night, but we can’t guarantee football royalty on every one though innit.”
Responding to the post, one person simply said: "Wow!" Another wrote:" Great work Philip."
For Pep, the visit came just days before his City squad headed to Wembley for a victorious match against Arsenal on Sunday (March 22). The manager has helped the Manchester club take home 16 trophies during the span of a decade, with this weekend's success giving him a record fifth League Cup win.
The Prestwich venue, which has been previously nominated at the Manchester Food and Drink Awards, also hosts regular wine tasting sessions and other events throughout the week, including sets from local DJs and Sip & Stem wine and flower arranging afternoons.
Upcoming events include a fried chicken and sparkling wine pairing session, and another which will take guests through the history of wine via a globe-worthy line-up.
Whole Bunch Wines is on 1 Church Ln, Prestwich, Manchester, M25 1AN.
