Jack Grealish is ineligible to face Manchester City due to the Premier League's rules regarding loanees and their parent clubs, but Pep Guardiola still wants to see Everton's latest hero
Pep Guardiola is looking forward to catching up with Jack Grealish on Saturday - and he admits that it 'would be nice' if the Manchester City loanee was allowed to face his parent club.
Grealish, 30, can't feature against City due to being on loan at Everton, where he's been electric. Since joining the Toffees in August, the playmaker has racked up one goal and four assists in nine appearances.
Grealish scored the winner against Crystal Palace last time out, as David Moyes' side clinched a dramatic 2-1 victory. But Grealish won't be able to continue his form back at the Etihad.
The Premier League prevent players from facing their parent clubs, a rule which Guardiola would consider changing if he was in charge. "Obviously, he is there. The impact has been massive from day one," the City boss said of Grealish.
"He got minutes and minutes and this is what he wanted. The decision we had with him, because he's a lovely guy, but he's back to real business and he's playing every game."
Guardiola added: "They're the rules. When I will be a CEO or president of a big institution in England maybe I will change it. If he played it would be nice but I don't have any opinion."
The Catalan coach was then asked if he'd spoken to Grealish since City sanctioned the season-long loan deal. "Not yet, when he left, but since then, no," Guardiola revealed. "Hopefully tomorrow, if he comes to the Etihad, I can see him."
Everton manager David Moyes has expressed his disappointment over Grealish's enforced absence. "Jack will be a miss for us because he has played so well," Moyes admitted. "We will rejig, get ready, and get ready to go."
The 30-year-old is loving life on Merseyside and hopes to be called up for England when Thomas Tuchel selects his next squad in November. More goals like the one against Palace will only help his case.
"To score the winner, which was my first goal for the club, was a brilliant feeling," Grealish beamed. "The fans have been so good with me since I have come here.
"I have loved every minute of it. The training and the playing, and I love playing here, at the Hill Dickinson, so hopefully it can continue.
"I like to do stuff in my life and when I like to do that stuff, I love doing it, so football is one of them. I love playing football and when I am enjoying it the way I am, there is nothing better. Waking up and training every day. There comes a lot of pressure with it, but it is the best job for us, so when I enjoy it like this, there is no better feeling."
