The Premier League Match Centre has clarified the reasoning behind the decision that saw Leeds United awarded a penalty against Liverpool.
The reigning champions led 2-0 at Elland Road thanks to a Hugo Ekitike brace, but Leeds were given a chance to get back into the game after a reckless challenge by Ibrahima Konaté.
Konaté initially avoided punishment for his slide tackle on Wilfried Gnonto, but after consulting the pitchside monitor, referee Anthony Taylor reversed his decision and awarded a penalty.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted from the spot, setting up a tense finish at Elland Road after Anton Stach picked up an equalizer.
