Everything you need to know about the Premier League relegation race...
- The 2025/26 Premier League relegation race has taken an unthinkable turn. As of late April 2026, the biggest story in world football is the very real possibility of Tottenham Hotspur being relegated to the Championship for the first time since 1977.
- With only a handful of games remaining, the battle to avoid the 'drop' has effectively narrowed down to a high-stakes duel between two London giants, Spurs and West Ham, with the bottom two places occupied by already-relegated Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley.
- Nottingham Forest's stunning 5-0 win at Sunderland on Friday night put them within one point of the magic '40 points' mark usually required for safety and eight points clear of the drop zone. The margin of their huge victory on Wearside also put their goal difference to a healthy -4, the best in the bottom six clubs.
- Leeds United are all-but-safe, too having gone their last five matches unbeaten to sit in 15th place and on 40 points.
- With Wolves and Burnley doomed and Leeds and Forest out of the picture, the final relegation spot is a fight between Tottenham and West Ham, on 31 and 33 points respectively.
- Wolves host Spurs at Molineux on Saturday (3pm) while the Hammers welcome Everton to London Stadium.
- As of late April, supercomputer predictions give Tottenham a 60.40 per cent per cent chance of relegation. If they fail to beat Wolves this weekend, they will equal a 91-year club record for the longest winless streak in their history.
