Arsenal have been requested to wear a different version of their away kit for their Premier League clash against Nottingham Forest at the weekend

Arsenal will wear a unique version of their away kit on Saturday afternoon when they take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, football.london understands.

The Gunners take on Sean Dyche's men at the City Ground (5.30pm), looking to tick another game off in the quest to become champions of England. Depending on how Manchester City do against Manchester United earlier in the day, the north Londoners could move nine points clear at the top of the table.

Mikel Arteta's side comes into the clash on the back of a 3-2 victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final. Goals from Ben White, Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi meant Arsenal have one foot in the final of the domestic competition.

Their attention now turns to the Premier League and their title race. However, supporters may notice Arsenal wearing a different edition of their away kit when they take on Forest.

football.london understands that the Gunners will wear their blue away kit tomorrow, as expected, with grey socks as requested by the Premier League. The home side will be in their usual red strip.

It's understood that the request has come in to avoid colour blindness issues. It's not yet clear what colour shorts Arteta's players will wear, although there is a previous example of what we can expect.

Earlier in the season, Arsenal wore grey shorts and socks with their blue away kit against Athletic Bilbao. That swap was due to UEFA regulations regarding kit clashes.

Last season, the Gunners wore alternative shorts in their Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven. Last weekend, they wore white socks with their home strip for the FA Cup victory over Portsmouth, as the Championship side wore red socks.

Ahead of the game, Arteta discussed the challenge Forest will present them this weekend, despite their position in the Premier League table. "A top coach, really good at what he does," he said.

"You can see straight away in the team, the way they play, the results that they got against some of the big teams as well, how difficult they are constantly making you so experienced in the league. So a very tough match.
