PSG Get Huge Update on Inter Milan Target Amid Liverpool Speculation

Liverpool appeared to be landing a PSG-linked defender to bolster their defense for the second half of the 2025-26 season and beyond. However, that might not be the case.

Club Brugge defender Joel Ordonez is on the Reds’ radar, and reports out of South America suggest Liverpool are stepping up their pursuit, with the club now prepared to make a move to Anfield as early as this month. As a result, this initial reporting meant bad news for other clubs with a link to the player.

In May, Foot Mercato reported that Club Ordonez was on PSG’s radar. The report said Luis Campos and the recruitment staff followed the Ecuador international closely, attending several matches as part of a broader evaluation process.

Club Brugge are believed to value Ordonez between €25 million and €30 million, with Premier League sides also monitoring the situation. While discussions have not advanced, multiple clubs are expected to keep a close watch as Ordonez continues to develop.

Moreover, with Marquinhos being 31, PSG need to find a long-term replacement. Despite the rumors linking Ordonez to the Reds, that reporting might be wide of the mark.

TEAMtalk’s Graeme Bailey reported on January 2, citing high-ranking Liverpool sources, that while interest in the player has not been ruled out, no agreement is anywhere near being finalized. At this point, discussions have not even begun.

Meanwhile, Bolavip previously reported that Chelsea have stepped away from talks for Ordonez, even though the Ecuador international was eager to make the move to Stamford Bridge. With Chelsea no longer involved, the focus has shifted to Liverpool and Inter, who have moved into position as the main contenders in the race for the highly rated defender.

Inter’s interest dates back months. Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that the Serie A club have kept close tabs on Ordonez, but any deal would not come cheap. The defender agreed to a contract extension last September that runs through 2029, setting the stage for a hefty transfer fee.
