Throughout the past summer window, Bradley Barcola’s name kept popping up in transfer chatter. With so many gifted players in PSG’s squad, it made sense that a few might look elsewhere for steadier minutes.
His fight for a regular place, especially with Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in the mix, only fueled talk that he might consider a move.
In July, Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport noted that any exit would depend on two things: Barcola would have to want to leave, and PSG would need to receive an offer above €100 million. Even with clubs like Liverpool showing interest, neither requirement was met.
Liverpool Made a Serious Effort for Liverpool

Transfer insider Sacha Tavolieri says Liverpool even put an oral proposal on the table through an intermediary for Barcola, and PSG turned it down right away.
Moreover, Hawkins has recently shared that Barcola grew increasingly frustrated and seriously considered leaving PSG. His contract discussions with PSG have become a key storyline as the club tries to gauge whether he still sees a path toward becoming one of their leading figures.

“The question came up,” Hawkins said (h/t Le10Sport). “It didn’t get much attention in the media because the club handled it very well. In terms of communication, it’s a masterclass. They managed to act as a pressure release on something that could have made more noise. Barcola asked himself real questions.
“He was performing, then they put Kvara in front of him, who became a starter. There’s the emergence of Doué. Small things that frustrate a player. Bayern Munich and Liverpool made very strong approaches. He seriously considered it. The contract extension situation will need to be followed closely.”
