Paris Saint-Germain's players paid tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough tragedy before also taking a moment to reflect at the memorial dedicated to Diogo Jota and Andre Silva outside Anfield.

Luis Enrique and his team were at Anfield for a training session on Monday, and while they were there, they spent some time outside the stadium, acknowledging two of the biggest tragedies to befall the Reds in the club's history. PSG chief Nasser El-Khelaifi laid a floral tribute at the Hillsborough memorial, while the Portuguese members of PSG's squad left flowers at the Jota memorial.

Joao Neves, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes and Goncalo Ramos were all teammates of Jota at international level, winning last summer's Nations League alongside the late forward several weeks before his passing in a car accident in Spain.

Both sets of players will wear black armbands during the Champions League quarter-final second leg at Anfield, while a minute's silence will also be observed prior to kickoff in memory of the victims of the Hillsborough disaster.

Liverpool is targeting an unlikely comeback against the Parisian club, after losing last week's first leg 2-0.

PSG should have won the game by a larger margin, but some profligate finishing from the French side means Arne Slot's men can go into the game with genuine hope of achieving another memorable Anfield comeback.

Speaking his post-game press conference, Liverpool head coach Slot said: "Of course, we know we need an exceptional performance to go through to the next round, but that's completely normal if you face the champions of Europe and you're 2-0 down.

"Then to make people a bit more positive than you were trying just a second ago, we've also been able to score more than two goals once in a while.

"Let's first focus on the job at hand and that is just start aggressive, making sure we can get back into the tie.

"The best way of doing so is, of course, scoring the first goal, which we again know because otherwise you're going tell me, 'Yeah, but last season they scored the first goal over here and at Arsenal they scored their first goal...'

"So yes, I know that they will try to score the first goal, but that's definitely what we are going to try as well."

The winner of the tie will go through to face either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid in a two-legged semi-final.
