Rafael Leao to Arsenal transfer hint spotted during AC Milan friendly clash

12 hours ago 31

AC Milan may have dropped a major hint about their plans for Rafael Leao amid recent links of a possible transfer to Arsenal. The Gunners have been credited with an interest in signing Leao in recent days as the summer transfer window continues to deliver new signings for Mikel Arteta's side.

Arsenal have already made four new additions to their squad and look set to make further new signings in the days and weeks ahead. Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Noni Madueke have been signed by Arsenal already this summer - with the Gunners also closing in on the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.

It remains to be seen if Leao turns out to be a genuine target for Arsenal - with AC Milan, seemingly, making their feelings clear about the Portugal international's future. On Wednesday, Arsenal played AC Milan in a pre-season friendly which saw the Gunners claim a 1-0 win in Singapore. Bukayo Saka scored the only goal of the game before the Serie A outfit won 6-5 in the subsequent penalty shoot-out.

Leao started the game and was also handed the captain's armband for the fixture with club captain Mike Maignan not involved in the match.

While handing Leao the captaincy for a friendly fixture is far from confirming any particular transfer stance, it does indicate that AC Milan have no plans of letting the forward leave the club anytime soon amid rumours of potential interest from Arsenal.

What may spark further speculation is that, last month, Leao posted a series of photos during his summer holiday which featured an Arsenal hero. In a post on June 27, the AC Milan star had two photos where he was wearing a t-shirt featuring Gunners legend Thierry Henry wearing an Arsenal kit.
