“I am a player who fights for the badge” – Randal Kolo Muani speaks for the first time as a Tottenham player, outlining his ambitions and the qualities he intends to bring to Thomas Frank’s side.

Tottenham Hotspur had a rather quiet deadline day when compared to some of their rivals, with only one player arriving through the door for Thomas Frank’s team.

Randal Kolo Muani completed his switch from Paris Saint-Germain to Tottenham on a season-long loan deal, taking the number 39 shirt as he looks to make his mark in north London.

The 26-year-old is no stranger to the Spurs’ recruitment team, with the club having chased him during the winter window, although he instead chose to join Juventus at the time.

Randal Kolo Muani speaks as Tottenham player

With Kolo Muani now officially a Spurs player, he has spoken directly to the supporters, offering a clear picture of the type of footballer he is and what they can expect from him during his time at the club.

Speaking to Spurs media, he said: “I am really happy to be playing here. I am really satisfied. I am very proud. I cannot wait to meet my teammates and all the fans and to start to play. I am a player who fights hard for the badge. I fight for the fans, for the club, for the badge.

“I hope to bring lots of goals and points for my new club. I already know the manager really well, we have spoken previously. He told me about the project and it really appealed to me. Now I think it is up to me to show all my qualities out on the pitch.”

The forward also detailed his career so far, explaining: “I started out in the Paris region. I went through the age categories in the Paris region and then I went to FC Nantes, where I carried on through different levels.

“Once I was loaned to Boulogne-sur-Mer, then I returned to Nantes. After Nantes, I left for Eintracht Frankfurt for a year. Then I went to Paris Saint Germain. I stayed there for three years except last year when I was on loan at Juventus.”

Kolo Muani then reflected on a memory from 2022 that still stands out for him: “It is a really good memory with great fans, a crowd that really got behind their team.

“I have only got good memories, and I cannot wait to start playing and meet them. I just cannot wait to get going, I have watched a lot of these kinds of leagues on TV. Now I am here and I cannot wait to get out on the pitch. To start playing and show what I have got for my new club.”

Tottenham’s summer transfer business analysed

Tottenham have had a productive summer transfer window, with the club addressing several important areas of the squad that needed strengthening.

A creative number ten arrived in Xavi Simons, a player who can step in for the injured James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski, while also being comfortable on the left flank.

Mohammed Kudus adds a direct option on the wing, a maverick capable of beating his man and producing moments of brilliance, which has been missing from this Tottenham side.

Joao Palhinha provides the defensive midfield cover the club has been crying out for, with his ability to win duels, shield the defence and break up opposition play.

Kota Takai is one for the future, but importantly, every new signing brings UEFA Champions League experience, something crucial as Spurs prepare for their return to the competition after two years away.
