Randal Kolo Muani is on his way to Tottenham Hotspur and a look at his statistics makes it clear whether or not he will be a good signing for the club.

Most Tottenham Hotspur supporters will already have been familiar with Randal Kolo Muani before the past couple of days. His name was mentioned continuously during the January transfer window as Spurs made Muani their top striker target.

Tottenham tried to hack Muani’s loan move to Juventus and their attempts continued until the player completed his move to Italy. Ange Postecoglou later claimed Spurs never thought Muani would join them, but fast forward a few months and the forward is North London-bound.

A report on transfer deadline day has revealed that Tottenham have agreed a deal to sign Muani on loan. The move is a straight loan and there is no option to make it permanent, although Spurs could still place a bid next summer if Muani impresses.

Kolo Muani had a good record before he joined PSG

Tottenham desperately needed a goalscorer this transfer window after Dominic Solanke struggled in front of goal during his first season at the club. However, it is only due to Solanke’s recent injury that Muani will be brought into the Tottenham first-team squad.

Muani is certainly a goalscorer and his tally was rising consistently each season. He scored nine times in Ligue 1 during the 2020/21 season and 12 times the year after, earning himself a move to Frankfurt. Muani had an excellent season in the Bundesliga, scoring 15 league goals and 23 in all competitions.

However, a move to PSG did not help Muani, as his starts became limited and he only scored six league goals in his first season there. His second continued on a similar trajectory, as he played just 10 league matches and scored twice.

It seems a loan move to Italy is exactly what Muani needed to find his form again. The 26-year-old made 16 appearances for Juventus in the second half of last season and he netted eight times in Serie A. This works out at a goal every two matches, meaning if he had been at the club the entire season and kept up that level of consistency, he would have scored 19 times.

Randal Kolo Muani is more than a goalscorer for Tottenham

Scoring goals will be one of Muani’s main jobs at Tottenham, but he could also be useful for creating chances. His assists have actually come close to matching his goals tally most seasons. In fact, Muani registered 17 assists during his one season in Germany, which is more than any Spurs player managed last season.

His creative side has seemingly taken a dip more recently, as he only managed one assist for Juventus in Serie A. However, Muani played predominantly as a centre-forward whose job was to score goals, which the Old Lady had previously been lacking. He occasionally played on the wing at his former clubs.

This could be useful to Tottenham later in the season when Solanke is fit again, but the left wing is still a weak spot in the team. Muani is quick and a good dribbler, so he could be moved across the frontline to help Spurs out where required. This is certainly a player Tottenham fans can be excited about.
